Bush's Faith-Based Grant Funding It displeases right-wingers that our forefathers had included the separation of church and state in the US Constitution. The European practice of a designated national religion levying a 'church tax' upon the populace had been disallowed. However, Bush's faith-based grant funding is in effect a 'church tax' on America since our tax money would aid religious organizations providing community services. Besides currying favor from the religious-right, what is his true motive? Sadly, George Bush is portraying these supplemental services as a refuge for the victims of his sceme to dismantle our government's already anemic social programs.
